12 Days of Christmas Giveaway – Day Two

,

Hello, everyone! Welcome to day two of my 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway! Here’s how this works:

  1. Each day, a new post with a new giveaway will go up on my site at 10am Mountain time. (That’s 9am Pacific/11am Central/12pm Eastern.)
  2. You’ll have until midnight of the following day to enter.
  3. Entry is easy… if you’re not already a member of my mailing list, click through and join. If you are a member of my mailing list, you don’t have to sign up again, just click completed. (I’ll be verifying winning entries). Then share on all your social media channels and you’re done!
  4. Winners will be announced on the widget as soon as they’re drawn and you’ll be receiving an email from me asking for your address. Make sure you use an email address you monitor, because if I don’t get a response in 48 hours, I’ll draw a new winner!
  5. Giveaway is open only to entrants with US mailing addresses. (You don’t have to be a US citizen/resident, but I can only mail to US addresses.)

Be sure to check back every day to find out what the new prize is and make your daily entries!

Now let’s get to the fun stuff! Today’s prize is… two sets of my favorite magnetic bookmarks. I collect bookmarks (unintentionally) because I always seem to lose them right when I need them. These solve that problem completely!

These make great stocking stuffers for you (or a family member…) So make your entries below, and good luck!

Cover Reveal: London Tides Gets A New Look!

,

As you all probably know by now, the MacDonald Family series is getting repackaged and rereleased, starting with Five Days in Skye. (If you don’t know the whole story behind the rerelease of these books, you can read all about it here.)

The next book to get a new look is book two, London Tides. Without further ado, here it is!

While I loved the original cover, I’m really digging this updated, contemporary look. The dark tunnel symbolizes Grace’s move from the darkness into the light…and you know me, I’m always up for a little symbolism. I was just ten feet away from this spot while in London this past October, and I didn’t even know this little underpass existed, so it’s fun to have a hidden gem on the cover.

If you haven’t read this book yet, there’s still a few paperback copies available at online retailers. Otherwise, the e-book and the new paperback come out in July 2019.

#2MinWritingTip – Pursue Inspiration

, ,

I have a confession to make. I almost forgot about this post. However, I have a good excuse: I was very intentionally not working this weekend.

I’ve spent the last three months at a flat-out run, between deadlines, conferences, and self-publishing a book for the first time. Ironically, all this coincides with the beginning of an online Bible study centered around finding time for Sabbath. When I blew past Monday straight to Thursday without even cracking the book, I realized the ridiculousness of being too busy to start a study on not being too busy to rest. And so I made a snap decision, finished up my work for the week, and began an impromptu vacation through the weekend after Thanksgiving.

And you know what? It’s been glorious. I’ve read four books. Four. Caught up on my favorite TV show that inspires me with its wonderful writing. Laughed with my sons while compiling our ultimate music playlist for the car. Played my guitar almost every day. And suddenly the story ideas that were stubbornly hanging in the periphery have burst into the forefront.

I’ve always known it, but I needed the reminder that as writers, we need time to recharge our energy. To court inspiration. To refill the creative well. And far from putting me behind schedule, the time off is paying dividends in renewed creativity and enthusiasm.
